Reporting a calculation error

These are the most useful messages to receive. To make the problem quick to reproduce, please include:

Confirmed errors are fixed and checked against related tools, since a shared formula may affect more than one page.

Suggesting a tool

If a calculator you need is missing, describe the situation you would use it in rather than just naming the tool. Knowing the underlying problem usually produces a better design than the feature request would have.

Feedback on the explanations

If a write-up is confusing, wrong, or missing an important caveat, that is worth reporting too. Pointing to the specific sentence that did not land is more helpful than a general note.

What cannot be answered

Some requests fall outside what this site can responsibly do.

Privacy of correspondence

Emails are used only to respond to your message. Addresses are not added to any mailing list, shared, or sold. See the privacy policy for how the site handles data generally.

Linking and reuse

Links to any page here are welcome and need no permission. Short quotations with attribution are fine. Wholesale copying of the explanatory content or the calculator code is not permitted — see the terms of use.

Questions that come up often

"The result differs from another site." Usually the two tools use different formulas or different assumptions. Body fat, ideal weight, and calorie calculators are the most common cases, because several competing equations exist and none is definitive. Each page here states which formula it uses, so comparing methods is the quickest way to find the source of a discrepancy.

"Can I use these on my phone?" Yes. Every page is a plain responsive web page with no app required. The site can also be added to a home screen and will open like an app, and previously visited pages work without a connection.

"Do you save what I type?" No. There is no server receiving calculator inputs — the arithmetic happens in your browser and the values disappear when you close the page. The privacy policy covers this in full.

"Will you add support for other currencies or units?" Where a calculator is unit-dependent it already accepts both metric and imperial input. Currency is deliberately left generic, since the arithmetic is identical whatever symbol you put in front of it.

Response times

This is a side project rather than a staffed service, so a reply typically takes a few days. Error reports are prioritised over feature requests, because a wrong calculation actively misleads people while a missing tool merely inconveniences them.
